The definition of science fiction is a tricky one-- no one definition has really been universally accepted, and the line between scifi and other genres like fantasy, horror, spy-fi, etc. continues to be debated. The following statements, however, are helpful in defining the genre.

"Fantasy is the impossible made probable. Science Fiction is the ( Read more... )

Is that the American film or the British Miniseries?

Primeval http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primeval

Sanctuary http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanctuary_(TV_series)

Misfits - this one idk if it really is all that scifi but there is time travel, special powers from an electrical storm, etc. it might be more "supernatural" though

I'm torn on this one. I've never seen an episode, so I'm going by the wiki article, and the show seems to be based on a lot of artifacts that have little/no scientific basis-- things like a magic mirror and and a magic pen. It does seem to be considered "scifi" by a lot of people though, so maybe I'm missing some information that would explain why? If you want to make an argument for it, I'd be happy to hear it. :)

Well I consider it scifi and alot of other people because even though some artificats are a bit "magical" There is always a piece of science behind it. Like ie the mirrior was Edisons mirror and stuff!
I can't really explain it but i dont consider it fantasy or anything becaue these could be stuff that would happen in RL!

I added Warehouse 13, and I'll get it into a Bingo poll soon. Sorry for the delay, but thanks for the addition! :)

Wow can't believe Babylon 5 is not on the list already as it's one of the biggest sci-fi series I can think of!

I added it to the list. If you think of anything else you'd like to see added, just leave me a link to the wiki article or other description. Thanks! :)

I'm just curious if you'd consider "Haven" to be scifi, or is it too "ghostly" supernatural?

It is kind of "horror" because it is loosely based on Stephen King's novels, but in some ways it's kind of like Fringe and X-Files.
Ability to cause things to spontaneously combust, a body-snatcher of sorts, the ability to affect things with drawings and music. The thing about Haven is we don't know for sure yet what the cause of this all is. Is it because of another dimension, aliens giving us special powers, etc.
If nothing else it should get points for having an awesome X-Files reference in last week's episode. =D

Just a thought. :)

I'm going to leave Haven off the list for now, but let me know if things develop into more solid scifi territory like aliens or alternate dimensions or something and we can add it then. :)

I hadn't heard of the show before, but it looks cool and I love Emily Rose, so thanks for pointing this out! :D

Sounds good. Yeah, it will be interesting to see what direction the show takes.

Yeah, I really am enjoying Emily Rose. The show is pretty good, it was a great show to appease me during my "I miss Fringe and Doctor Who" phase this summer. lol
