Dead Zone - "Heritage"

Since I was already in a sad mood after watching an episode of Without a Trace I decided to bite the bullet and watch the new season premiere of DZ.  Fucking bastards. I totally cried, damnit. Haven't done that for a tv character since X-files and the loss of the Lone Gunmen.  I swear TPTB made it so damn depressing because it's hard to get angry ( Read more... )

and I'm wondering if they didn't have to cut the budget? Sure, they've brought on a female sheriff, but she isn't likely to be in it to the degree Walt was, so the pay would be considerably less for the actress. While the show is wildly popular, I think issues with AMH's mental health - the times they've held production, etc, may be the cause? Or it could simply be a chance to move the show out of the realm of the book and into a totally new direction?

Personally, I'm glad the whole end of the world storyline is gone. Truly. I hated that, especially since we know the character died at the end of the book, trying to keep it from happening. I kept thinking they'd do the same on the show, which would make me VERY mad. So I hope they keep going in another direction altogether! LOL!

How did I not know you watched Dead Zone? o___0 It's like my fav small fandom verse. What's that about AMH? There were indeed budgeting costs. They now film in Montreal, so familiar Vancouver faces won't be around anymore, and of course they cut out Walt, Purdy... Bruce. Oh, and Janus. And Dana's already been missing for a long while. =\ Not cool.

"End of the World"! Now see, that needed to end alright, but it happened so abruptly and at the start of a season? Would have been better to somehow divert it by the Miranda episodes (I think that would be quite workable, actually) or better yet, earlier. I mean, why not move those visions towards Janus rather than Stillson? (Since apparently that was what was meant all along ( ... )

My problem is seeing slash between Johnny and Stilson! LOL! And back in 2003, AMH was sued by the insurance company for DZ for failing to disclose the fact that he was under a doctor's care for bi-polar - manic depression, yadda-yadda. They had to take out a special insurance rider (at considerable cost). So I've often wondered if the many halts in the show were due to his condition. ::shrugs:: I admire him greatly - he's overcome a hell of a lot!!!

And yes, I'll keep watching because he's the reason I do. :) And that little slash bug of mine...well, you never know.
