The day they receive the envelopes Sherlock asks Amy a life-changing question, and the possibility of another major change comes to light at the same time. Knowing that the envelopes are from The Doctor they travel to America and meet up with the Doctor and River Song, only to watch the Doctor die on the shores at Lake Silencio, killed by a younger River Song in a space suit. They return to London and try and get their lives back in order when three months later the Doctor pops up at Sherlock and John's home, alive and well, with news that the Amy who's been around them is not really Amy at all. She's a flesh duplicate, sent to replace the real Amy, who was kidnapped on a trip to New York months earlier and is pregnant with a very special child, and Sherlock is the father. Sherlock
