Voting: Round 1 Challenge 2 (Epic)

Mar 04, 2011 10:04

Hey all, here's the second voting. Also, I've added a space between the icons and the numbers so it's easier to see which number is for which icon...the numbers are above the icons. :) Please remember that participants are required to vote and if they don't vote three times they will recieve two NEGATIVE points. If you did not sign up, you are can still vote!

- Please vote for your top three (3) favorite icons (voting order does not matter), also vote for two (2) additional icons that you want to give constructive criticism on and vote for one (1) icon that is the best interpretation of the theme!
- You are required to give a reason for your vote for your top 3 icons as well as the 2 additional icons that get constructive criticism. If you'd like you may give a reason for your best interpretation vote but it is not required. Your reasons must be based on the technical aspect of the icon, not on personal preference... please see below on how to do that.
- Participants are required to vote! If you do not vote in three challenges you will receive negative 2 (-2) points.
- Participants get ONE (1) point for voting in each challenge!
- You do not have to be signed up to vote. Also remember that there will be a Most Valuable Player award given out to the person who gives the most valuable feedback, this does not have to go to someone who was signed up for the round, it can go to a watcher of the comm as well.
- Feel free to leave additional comments (praise or constructive) besides the comments for the 6 icons you are voting on!
- Do NOT vote for yourself or ask anyone to vote for you. Anonymous voting will not be counted.
- You have 24(ish) hours to vote. Voting ends at 9 AM EST tomorrow!

How to vote
- Before you vote, please read one (or both!) of these guides on how to give feedback. (Please note that these were both made for a LIMS). See chacusha's guide or obaona's guide.
- Keep in mind two things when giving constructive Criticism or the reasons for your favorite icons:
1. How would you feel receiving this constructive feedback? Keep in mind that the other person might have made the icon in 5 minutes or 5 days...this pretty much comes back to what your mom used to say when you were a kid "treat others the way you would want to be treated"...give the kind of feedback that you would like to receive.
2. Is this feedback going to help the icon maker? If there's something you don't like with the icon, try giving a way for the icon maker to improve on it and make it better.

Votes that will be disqualified (Bad feedback):
- This icon sucks, the coloring is horrible and I hate it.
- I don't like this icon because of that ship/fandom/character/etc.
- The two images makes the icon look stupid.

Votes that are acceptable (Okay feedback):
- The crop makes the image look unbalanced.
- The icon is over sharpened and the coloring distracts from the rest of the icon.
- The coloring is pretty.

Votes that are acceptable and helpful (Excellent feedback):
- The concept of the icon is very nice and would work well. The coloring and placement of the subject seems a bit off however, maybe try moving the subject more to the middle of the icon so you can see the subject better. For the coloring, try boasting the brightness of the icon and maybe adding some color (selective color, fill layers set to soft light, variations) to make the colors that are already in the image stand out.

- The overall icon is wonderful and very creative. The icon does look a bit under sharpened a bit, especially around the face, maybe try sharpening the face a bit and then use a layer mask to "erase" the sharpening over the rest of the icon. The coloring is very pretty but maybe by adding some blue to the background it would make the subject stand out a bit more and make the icon pop.
