More Bowie

I don’t think I read an article about Bowie in the 80s that didn’t describe him as a “chameleon”. He embraced change in a way few other people manage. Most of us fear change. We have the same hairstyle for years, or even decades. Where the same clothes. The phrase, “It’s just a phase” is considered an insult. As if anything temporary isn’t valuable

Ah, but Bowie's own response to that chameleon description was, "The chameleon is always trying to blend into his surroundings, and I don't think that's exactly what I'm known for." There must be a better term. Can't quite think what it could be, though.

Yeah the chameleon was meant as a bad description of the media's inability to cope with the idea of someone constantly transforming themselves.
