Those things all evolve your pokemon. Which you would know if you ever bothered to pay attention to anything. You just give it to them and trade them to someone else for a bit, and they evolve into something more powerful.

Well, I think that depends on your definition of "thing". But let me see, I was mocking him for no real reason other than just being him, which is reason enough, when he decided to look through ever single stupid room in the entire hotel to find mine. Then once he found mine he punched me in the face. So we fought and then I guess we kissed. And went on a date.

So I don't know, that doesn't sound like any kind of "thing" at all to me.
