An idea struck me while watching the Eurovision song contest last night. No, I'm not going to say anything about the quality of music or the politics involved in voting. Instead I wanted to point at the fact the wide-screen TV is now so much the standard that no thought is given to those of us who are quite happy watching the old 4:3 screens ( Read more... )

The black bars on top and underneath is actually a much better solution then the hatchet job they use here. Strangley enough, they do use it here when showing old movies. I guess those have different aspects yet again.

I actually do have digital TV. For us this just means that the TV is permanently set to the video channel. with an extra box handling the 500 or so channels that I don't want to see.
Sadly, going digital this is the only way that I can get BBC so I can watch Doctor Who, as they removed BBC and Discovery from the non-digital packages.
Still no BBC Digital though...

Anyway, I would expect that you can continue using your converter.
