I definitely feel sorry for the Doctor, because he can't take what his own advice was. Victoria, I will optimistically say I think will be okay - because she can move on, forget, and realizes that she has had an extraordinary life in some regards. The Doctor has forgotten a bit how to do that and, in his very old age, has become a little less...idealistic.
