The First Flight [Action/Voice]

[He milled about the village casually, the clothes he had found himself in when he first arrived not fazing him in the least. The truly important suit was stashed away in the small tan backpack slung onto one shoulder, his hands never quite leaving the strap. He had gotten it without too much hassle, oddly enough in the weapon shop rather than the ( Read more... )

[Yoru-sensei. A name he knew well. But a name he never once spoke of here in Luceti. That meant one thing. The person who addressed him knew certain facts. However, the mention of Tanaga-sensei was not something he had expected. Kiari Tanaga was Yoru-sensei's star pupil in more recent years, and he had saved her life from Kyodai Ken when he demanded the location of the scroll to learn Kiba no Houkou.

Several deductions ran through Batman's mind:

Foremost, this person either had intimate knowledge of, and most likely, was from his world. Second, they had enough knowledge to deduce that a student of Yoru's was here... and to know exactly who it was: Bruce Wayne. Batman. Only a handful of people in his world could draw that conclusion.

One name stood out in his mind most of all. Kyodai Ken. Though he was reasonably certain Kyodai had perished in the volcanic blast, Luceti had a nasty tendency to bring the dead back to life.

...But there was an important caveat. Kyodai would never refer to Tanaga as sensei, let alone ( ... )

Never did like clowns.

[That last one particularly bodes ill.]

Feeling's mutual then. [Terry clapped his hands together softly and did his usual fool's grin.] Right, time to get down to business. I...sort of need your help. Let's face it, I'm the new guy, don't know how this place works, don't recognize most of the faces...and I'm in need of a place to crash. Figured you'd be able to point me in the right direction.

I'm not much of a tour guide.

Did you read Professor Sage's manual?

Sort of. [He might've leafed through it...skimmed over a few things real fast...or maybe just skimmed over the table of contents and got bored.] And this book doesn't cover the parts of this world not filled with sunshine and fun, if you catch my drift.

[Have a tone of voice you're all too familiar with.]

I do. Read it.

[Did he even bother to tweak that tone over twenty years?] Geez, alright, I'll read it, I'll read it! ...still need to find a place to crash tonight.

If you're looking to live with me... you're going to be telling me who you are. If you're this familiar with me, you must know how I operate.

Otherwise, there are plenty of empty community buildings you can sleep in.

[Scanning to ensure that they were indeed alone and not having any eavesdroppers, Terry pulled his cowl up to reveal his face to Bruce as he said in a quiet voice:] Terry McGinnis.

You're younger than I expected.

[Not said with any sort of degrading tone. Bruce sounds almost amused. This kid looked to be about as old as Dick was when he became a dedicated Robin.

Admittedly though. This kid's got the look. Though looks could be deceiving, the sort of intensity Terry carried himself with implied he was pretty genuine.]

Youth and enthusiasm to go with the old age and cunning.

You can put your mask back on. [He knows your face now. So unless you're Clayface, he's not forgetting it. Also, it's a risk to leave him unmasked for too long.]

I imagine there's more to be said.

[Gladly, he hated having the cowl off the suit when not in the privacy of the cave.] That depends, what do you want to know and what bits about the future do you want to hear?

What year are you from?

[He has a guess, but he needs to confirm.]
