...my home town had a population of 1000 people. I graduated in a class of 72 (and we were the biggest in school history, huuzah!) The thought of a town having 700,000 people makes my head hurt. :P
Oh gosh. ;A; Well when you grow up in a place like that, it's different. I can't really stand cities that are so small being NOTHING EVER HAPPENS, not where I live. It's only in bigger cities that you can get niche communities and a wide variety of people to meet.
That I can understand, though, I would rather travel to those cities instead of living in them, savvy? For example, Pittsburgh is an hour away from where we live. If I want to go and kick back with a shit ton of shit to do...I get in teh car and we go. Here, I get peace, quiet, and a grand view of nature.
But, as you said, it's different when you grew up in a place like this. Even small towns have hidden gems, however. You just have to look. ;)
That's what's so great about this world huh, if you want to live in a small city you can, or if you like big cities you can live there too. :)
An hour's drive isn't bad! It's over two hours drive for me to get to any city worthwhile visiting, and you have to pass through a mountain/over the sea to get there. :T So it's not as convenient for me.
But I'd still like to be in the middle of all the action, despite the fact that I prefer to keep to my self anyway lol.
Bring lots of books and loud music. If you act like an asshole, would people just leave you alone then? My brother just got back from Arivat (used to be Eskimo Point), Nunvut for training. They were stranded in a blizzard, the plane couldn't take off. I'm sure I'll be hearing all about it once I see him. I says that you go for it.
