Non profit

I want to work for a non-profit. I hate my job and almost got fired today. I realize I do not just want to be doing more in my job, but I also want it to matter. Where is a good place to look for listings, check out Craigslist, but want to check out other places.

Most non-profit organizations don't pay well. Either you take a massive pay cut, or you have to have a pretty high-level degree to work for most places that are non-profit, because of their budgeting they need people who know their shit. I have looked into this already, it's not something that is easy to do unless you have a degree or want to spend a lot of time volunteering. And in this economy? Forget it, most places have had to slash their funding... :/

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but in this economy and without a degree, there isn't much out there. I wouldn't be working a temp job at a shipyard if there was. Employers can be picky, so they're doing exactly that.
Having had about, oh, the past 9 years' worth of shitty jobs, I can completely understand where you're coming from - it is also the reason I'm going back to school.
