She sends a leaf fluttering to the ground in front of her and he laughs harder, barely able to catch his breath. “Stop laughing! It's not funny!” She sighs. “We are in the forest. I am wearing tennis shoes and...” She picks up the thigh of her pant leg between her thumb and forefinger and makes a face.
“Sweats...” He says, his tone as if he's talking to a three year-old.
“I know what they're called!” She shouts, stamping her foot. “Damn it, Alex, I...”
“Alright, alright.” He grasps her upper arms in his hands and rubs his hands over the goosebumps beginning to sprout. “Look, I have everything we need. I promise I won't make you eat fish. I brought a nice picnic up earlier, as well as bug spray...” He brushes dirt off her cheek, unsure how it got there. “I just wanted you to see the stars, Addie. We hardly ever get to see them in the city.” He can see in her eyes that she feels bad for throwing a fit and he smiles, leaning in and gently pressing his lips against the corner of her mouth. “Besides, I'll make it worth your while.” He whispers, capturing her lips with his before she can respond. He slips his tongue over hers and when she whimpers he pulls away, winking at her.
She sighs. “You so owe me for this.”.
