I'll need to use it more and really get into the ecosystem before I can elaborate fully. To be quite frank, at this precise moment in time, it's not a topic I've wanted to tackle, but I'll do it if only for you and Texas.
I'm thinking that if you both like the NOOK and are thinking about purchasing a NOOK Color, you'll love the iPad.
Ah, don't worry about it then. I know you have more than enough on your plate as it is! Really, it's me being lazy more than anything really. I've already seen an iPad up and close - both my parents have one.
To my mind right now it's a great toy, if a little lacking on "work" functions.
Something that's nice to have, but not yet essential.
The iPad is currently the all-in-one device right now. That, plus a screen that's large enough to display PDFs at a readable size but small enough to be mobile. iPad can currently read any ebook format out there, if not natively, then definitely with apps. Plus, you can get any kind of app to do anything you need done. It's a one size fits all device. So why drag ass over it?
Ouch! Figures that the refurb wouldn't work. I'm in a deeper boat though. I bought a brand new ipad for school last semester. After having it for a mont, a drink opens up in my bag and drenches it and my iphone. My life died at that very moment.
(literally - I had all of my textbooks on that thing. There's a direct correlation between the time I started failing a few of my classes and the time that my ipad got wet)
No, I hadn't bought it yet. My iphone ~magically~ started working again, but my ipad completely went dead. I was told that I can replace my ipad for 249$, so hopefully that deal will still fly this weekend when I get money finally.

You're going to have so much fun with that...
Looking forward to an in-depth review at some stage! Need to know if I should push Texas to really get one, lol.
