If I were a religious nutjob and inclined to see the hand of God (or the Gods, depending on your religion) in everyday events, I would think hard about these two news stories:

Well, while it's possible to be a nutjob about almost anything, and there are certainly nutjobs of other faiths, it's monotheism that proves a special type of breeding ground for uber-nuts and fundies. Monotheism is dedicated to dualistic side-taking, and is obsessed with the kind of black-and-white thinking really necessary for true nuttery.

As for finding justification in that statement--believe you personally are a repository for God's plan, and you'll find justifications and signs everywhere you look--but they'll all conveniently spin to reinforce what you already believe. So, if you support Mukasey, Bush and their view of the world, and you believe that view is the only one sanctioned by God, you'll never see evidence against that in Mukasey's collapse. It will have to mean something else.
