When we dug up the baby lemon tree from the wine barrel we were leaving at the old apartment, we weren't quite sure where to put it at the new house, so we stuck it in a five-gallon bucket with an Aquaglobe, put it in the biggest sunny window, and haven't really gotten around to figuring out where that sunny happy citrus-friendly spot is ( Read more... )

Neat!

The only blossom I will be experiencing at home is my Dracunculis vulgaris.... I do hope the neighbors don't call the police and complain of rotting corpses on my balcony.... But the staggering beauty of the plant and its leaves and flowers is TOTALLY worth the ghastly scent!! Still, I have lemon blossom envy now :P

We had a similar concern for police involvement, but not until halfway through moving the tree...because unknown to me, my boss/landlord had already rented out our old apartment and the new tenants had no idea that the stuff in the backyard was ours...so they came down into the yard in the dark as we dug, and it must surely have looked like grand larceny lemon...

Dracunculis vulgaris is certainly a magnificent plant...from a distance!
