Baking question

I baked kolache today - inside with poppy seed filling, and on top raspberry jam with streusel. Why did the jam run? Taste-wise, the kolache are awesome, but I would prefer if the jam stayed in the center.

What should I do to prevent it - less jam? Flatten the dough more?

thicker jam (I find that German jam runs way more than Finnish does... and now to the question: where to get good Finnish baking jam?)
flatten more OR push the center down more
