I still haven't seen XMFC...

Because I'm a terrible person, naturally. But from what I've read, it seems like something was lost with the ejection of Charles' pre-Magneto travels, such as serving in the Korean War, and fighting the Shadow King. Is XMFC an AU where Charles is just inherently less adventurous, and far more complacent?

Part of it is that XMFC Xavier is meant to be pretty young--when we meet McAvoy!Charles he's still working on his thesis, and he would have been a teenager during the Korean War. There's a sequence in the movie that could, I suppose, be a stand-in for his world travels, so I wouldn't say he isn't adventurous, but he definitely doesn't have all the life experiences comic!Charles had before he formed the X-Men.

It's kind of a Britsh!Charles au then? How would things be different if...?

Hmm, sort of? It definitely takes this young, not fully-formed-yet guy and puts him on the tumultuous road to the man he'll become. *trying not to be spoilery*

I actually like the way they handled Xavier. It might even be my favorite incarnation of them all. Young, a little bit stupid, emotional, funny.

He's both adventurous and complacent. (It works, trust me.) Before Erik, there's never been anyone even close to his equal and them meeting clearly starts something in him. You know, 'the sleeper awakens'.:)

The energy between Charles and Erik makes the movie worth watching. Sure, it could be better with small changes but considering the previous X-men movies, it's definitely one of the better ones.

I like comics Xavier pre-Joss. Joss added an unneeded dark side to the character. Bleh.

Then you should be very happy with nu!Xavier. He's not perfect but is definitely a white hat.:)

(Joss likes his dark side. *nods*)
