A 'hello' and a question

Hello, everyone <3 I'm a new member, both to this wonderful series and the community. I was worried that there weren't many fans at first, but now I see there's nothing to be worried about. :D

And, um, I have a question.
In the first few volumes, James was very happy to be near Dorian; he acted like an overexcited puppy at the slightest mention of ( Read more... )

I don't think it was actively explained, but James's disinterest in Dorian seems to correspond roughly to Dorian's interest in Klaus...

My theory is that he was so disappointed that Dorian didn't love him (and had terrible taste in men besides) that he threw himself into the business of accounting, losing himself in it... Which turned out to be okay, because he discovered that money made him happier than Dorian ever did. :D James/Money OTP!

Awww ... That's romantic, really. :) In a way. I like that explanation. :)

Don't worry.
Although he is gradually portrayed as a miser and misery lover,
he always gets jealous of Dorian every time Dorian gets interests in young beautiful boys or tries to get close to the Major.
Overall, the author depicts much less romantic aspects as the series go further.

Even the author admits that Mr. James has spiraled downward, going from miserly to eating garbage to save money. I don't think even she can fully explain how this happened. But since all the characters are over-the-top--and have taken on a life of their own--it doesn't really seem all that odd.

Oh,yes. Welcome to the fandom and community.

To me, it's a little like Aoike Yasuko milking James's stinginess. Before, it was hilarious, but now it's flat-out ridiculous. I'm not sure if this is meant to show his dissatisfaction with Dorian and Klaus's relationship, but I wish that she would stop.

I always wondered about that myself and I'm happy that someone has brought it up. I mostly agree with the others its Dorian's unshakable interest in Klaus.
