I've never seen a dental dam, and have no idea what they look like or how they're used. Either none of the sex toy shops I've been in have had them, or I've never known where to look - I'm vaguely curious.
they're always packaged, never lying out. then they wouldn't be sterile and they'd dry out like condoms. no good.
you know the latex tarp the dentist puts over your mouth, then pokes a hole in to work through? it's basically like that. frankly i don't see the point. i've never tried using one but i've heard from friends who have that they don't stay in place, neither partner can feel much through them and they tear easily [by say getting caught on a tooth].
but this group advocates safer sex, not good sex, so i guess i'll have to recommend using them.
That's really awesome, Sarah! I'm proud of you for that work & i hope you'll have some fun doing it.
My mom goes to Persad. That place is like The Little Project That Could. It looks good on paper but i feel like it's not treated fairly. Therapists there are always leaving for better jobs & the patients get juggled around & trampled on regularly. It's a good idea for a space, but it seems like something that was thrown together to fulfill some sort of quota obligation & even though money was spent to put it there, no one ever really *invested* in it.
Dental dams are a lot like Persad. Something that was made as a bookmark invention to quiet the people who were complaining about a lack of safety devices for female bodied people to engage in safe oral sex, but then no one bothered to come up with a better idea.
I would like to see someone build a better mousetrap in this category.
