Communication is something entirely different. There's a point to it. I didn't say it wasn't necessary - just that it feels a little absurd to essentially be talking to yourself.

And I'm sure there are plenty of things that each of us doesn't want everyone to know, but I wasn't referring to anything in particular. In my opinion, personal information should be reserved for personal relationships, not posted in front of perfect strangers or possible enemies.

But then again, apparently I'm "emo", so that may just be my dark twisted soul attempting to isolate me from the world.

I agree. It seems to improve a little the more you use it, though I still don't plan on divulging my life's story.
