I kinda do get what you're saying there. But you say for everyone's benefit, whose? Mine's? Yours? Or just the general populace ( ... )

That'd be the expense scandal where the government was cutting just less of 4mil off a massive budget on expenses.

Where the enquiry cost 4.1mil and the new setup cost of the watchdog 8mil + running costs. Yes I can see how upsetting the status quo there was really nessesary. Oh wait it sold newspapers :P

As said governments do have to be held in account when they cross the line but they also need to be able to make desicions without announcing there plans to everyone because sometimes its prudent not to. It's a tool that governments at this point in time need to operate, take that away and they have less options and may serve us worse in the long run.

You need a balance, at current wikileaks is on the very extreme side, which annoys me because that will probably erode there power to do things in the future.

I'm talking about the expenses scandal where Goverment MP's were using Taxpayer's money to pay for holiday homes, second mortgages and all that kind of stuff >.>.

Which they'd been doing for years, it was way more than just 4 mil.

But again, I'm not saying they have to announce everything, I just mean that if they do something that is not in the interest of the people, but in the interest of themselves and they get caught. Own up to the mistake you made! Don't try and pretend it didn't happen or try and make it go away because it's not going too.

It's more the message of stop shifting blame, if information is out. Take responsibilty.

The WikiLeaks thing was just an example for that.
