It's still not ready, and while I do regret not being able to post it today, I'd rather finish it to my satisfaction than post it before it's ready. Yep, whitemunin requested a Labyrinth drabble that takes place in Rio during Carnival. ~grin~ As with most of my drabbles, it's grown. ;)
The special effects have aged badly, but you're right that it allows the story to shine through much more clearly.
I don't think there's anyone else who could have had that Fae quality, then or now.
The fact that they had initially considered casting Michael Jackson for the role makes me shudder in horror. Wisely, Henson sent the script to Bowie instead. ~grin~

I think George Lucas already had some inkling about the potential for long-lived fandoms with his success at Star Wars, but I doubt that he thought Labyrinth would be much more than a bit of fluff summer movie. While the Star Wars fandom eclipses the Labyrinth one, we're still churning along too, and I'm sure he never would have expected that. LOL
