I am afraid of 17 out of 72 common fears

Jul 08, 2008 14:44

I don't know who came up with this list of 72 "scary" things. Some fears are NOT common at all (silk? welcome mats? flowers?), and some MORE common fears didn't even make the list (how about war, nuclear war, rape, having your child kidnapped, aliens, earthquakes, or corrupt politicians ( Read more... )

*giggle* Yay for my rattums! :) I'm not at all afraid of being a pet parent. I love animals and will never NOT have animals in my life. In fact, as soon as I have my own place, I plan to get a dog. ADOPT a dog, I should say, because the shelters will always be exploding with loveable dogs in need of homes, plus they're much less expensive than breeders.

Anyhoo, back to the parent thing. Even though I LOVE kids and get along with my relatives' and friends' kids great, that's a very different thing from having and raising my OWN kids. And that is what scares me! :( For a variety of reasons I won't bore you with right now, I simply do not feel I'm cut out to be parent, and I think that, for me, the cons of having kids would far outweigh the pros.

Yikes! I don't blame you for fearing roosters! :( I know of several folks who are afraid of GEESE for that same reason -- they got chased and/or attacked when they were little kids. (Why are geese so aggressive anyway?) But I never knew someone who had that experience with a rooster. The bone I have to pick with those birds stems from the time one of my neighbors had one as a pet, which actually was against city code. That crazy cock crowed even BEFORE the dawn! :O Plus at random times throughout the day! heh

Only 3 fears from the list? So far I haven't run across anyone who has you beat! :) I think I can guess what one of your fears is, but I'm not sure about the others. Are you going to post this meme in your journal? (I hope! heh)

Nah, I don't post memes all that often.

Thanks for all the advice about keeping A'tassa cool! She seems to be hanging out in her cage-condo most of the time. Yesterday I went to a hardware store and picked up some marble tiles. I put them in the freezer last night and put one in her cage this morning. (I got 4 12"x12" tiles for $7, much cheaper than the ChinChiller!)

I'm glad my advice for keeping A'tassa cool as a cuke helped out. :) She's such a sweet, cute and funny girl! What does she think of the chilled marble tiles?

I really need to get some of those for my boys. Until then, as a substitue I've found if I take an icy-cold aluminum soda can out of the fridge and put it in the rats' cage (nestled in the bedding so they can't roll it and hurt themselves) it definitely helps cool the air in the cage! I guess that's sort of the swamp cooler principle? *chuckle*

Yep, sharks can be quite scary in the wrong situations! :O Is your big fear of sharks because you had a bad experience with one? I hope not!!

Anyhoo, now of course I'm curious what your other 8 fears are, so I hope you might post this lisst in your journal later. (I noticed you just posted a 20-questions type meme, so maybe you can do the fears meme in a few days. You know how curious I am! LOL) Oh, and thank you for tagging me for your meme -- I get all happy when someone tags me. ;D What a nerd I am, eh? I'll try to do yours in a few days.
