(This was back in the 1990s). I'd always liked his works (songs and poems as well as essays), but thanks to that paper, I learned many new and interesting (and ( Read more... )

Did you celebrate with a haggis dinner?

LOL! No, I did not. The only time I would eat a haggis is if it was the vegetarian version!! Otherwise, UGH! :( I'm not a vegetarian, but I know what goes into a traditional haggis, and it turns me off so much that I unfortunately could not get my mouth and stomach to ignore the thoughts of distaste expressed by my brain. *chuckle* But I would totally try a veggie version.

BTW, that new icon of you and Risu is super-cute!!! :D He looks like he's "peeking". I've been trying to snap a good shot of Berrykins on my shoulder (he's more of a shoulder-rat than Jelly) but so far NONE of the pix are as good as yours with Risu, mainly because I don't have a remote shutter release. I might post some pix in a day or two. You can see what you think. :)

I tried haggis once at a Burns night dinner. It was surreal. A kilted guy approached the haggis and stabbed it in some ritualistic manner. The haggis itself tasted good but was too greasy for my tastes.

LOL!! The way you described the ritualistic haggis stabbing by the kilted guy conjured up a VERY vivid visual in my mind! :O :D Thanks for a great giggle!!
