about ur question, it depends on the texture u want to use... for example, almost all the textures i use on my graphics are in 'lighten' ... but u can try other modes... u have to open ur image and then copy and paste the texture over the pic and change the mode of the layer where the texture is:

that's the menu where u have to change the menu =)
