My friend had her baby October 31 and I met her last week. She's tiny and curious and amazing, and her name is Cecilia Ella. Her mom and I became good friends throughout her pregnancy, and I am completely invested in both of their lives--like, knitting socks, babysitting, call-me-when-you're-stressed type of involved. I feel responsible as a mother to both empower and warn my daughter. I wish I didn't have to do that. And to my son, I want to do the same thing. There are times when I wish I could wrap them both up safely forever. I'm so sorry for the young girl, and I'm happy for your friend.

Congrats to your friend!!!

It's true. You can't protect women or girls. you have to educate men and boys. I guess for me though, as a precaution, i learned to protect myself. But you can't expect every woman to learn self defense (even if i think they should) or how to shoot or something. *sigh*

All we can do is hope to make the world a better place one person at a time. Convince everyone to educate the men around them, to teach their boys respect and how not to act.
