Did you notice how steely Carson was when he revealed that he hadn't really given Lucius the ATA gene and then let John take him off? We haven't seen that from him in...possibly forever.
Cameron Mitchell is actually a better character than was exhibited in last night's episode. The little bit in the beginning when he was dangling a straw in Daniel's ear? That's more him. Mitchell is kind of a southern-fried Crichton, or at least that's how I'm writing him. I've only seen about...a quarter? A third? Of the episodes he's been in but if you need a hookup, shoot me a line.
I lack a Mitchell icon. So I shall use Teal'c instead.

I did! But I didn't trust I wasn't seeing what I wanted to see, y'know? I mean, I haven't watched and re-watched the show with the high level of obsession I'm capable of exhibiting, so I wasn't sure if overreacting to his demenor there or not. But he certainly didn't seem okay with everything.

That's good to know. "The Pegasus Project" was really my introduction to him, so I may have to check out some more.
Events from Irresistable could very easily slip into scary, dark non-con territory (except they were all having so much damn fun with the episode). The show fan half of me wants to push that aside, so I can rewatch that episode and enjoy it without creeping myself out. The writer half of me wants to explore that region in depth and totally ruin the episode for future viewings.
I *did* keep expecting, or at least hoping, that Rodney would get a moment to do something where Sam might realize or maybe even acknowledge that he's changed a little bit over the past several years, but sadly no. (Sam does less than nothing for me, incidently.)
Sam seems to bring out the old Rodney, ten-fold. Everything he's learned in Siberia and on Atlantis (humility) goes flying out the window when she's around. But I think the episode definitely helps the audience see how far Rodney's evolved, if not the characters themselves.
They were having a ridiculous amount of fun, and very few shows come to mind that can strike that balance of humor underpinned by something very much not funny. But I really love that simultaneous light & dark thing that "Irresistable" had going for it.

That does seem to be the case. I now really want to read a (non-shippy) fic where Sam and Rodney are kidnapped or something and the situation makes him snap out of that revert-to-form. I just want a moment like in "The Defiant One" where Gaul says "you want to go help Sheppard," y'know... (Which really means that part of me wants to write it, but there's many problems with that, not the least of which being I have next to no grasp on Sam as a character.)
