Thank you. :) The image of Mac helping her with the coat is where it started in my head.

He's such a gentleman. Where can I get one? Oh, wait. He's in the office right now. *g*

Lovely, as always. Thanks for sharing. :)

You portray, so well, the way Mac and Stella just *get* each other on this instinctive, only partially conscious level. Mac is very much on uncertain ground here, and clearly not always sure of how to respond or even of what he *wants*, but he also has enough trust in Stella to follow her lead. That's what always gets to me, the trust and the need and how much they don't ever *say* to each other, and the little ache that seems to run underneath everything, and that's what you've depicted so wonderfully.

Thank you. They're supposed to be *good* here, and they *are* because they're knowingly accepting that instinctual understanding of each other--Mac especially. Which, as you say, is a significant thing for Mac to be able to do. (yeah. i just re-worded that like five times--does it still make any sense?)

the little ache that seems to run underneath everything

At the same time I was wondering about that because I couldn't escape the feeling that there's a little melancholy in this moment. Maybe it comes back to all the things they don't say, even if they don't strictly speaking need to say them. (or maybe i'm just a sad bastard)

Great fic. So sweet. I loved the "Hey" moment there at the end.
