title: Waiting Room with: Stella pov rated: PG disclaim: I only own the dvds; everything belongs to Zuiker, CBS, et al. note: AU - set in the BSI ‘verse. Stellaluna's tag || my tag
I love what you've done with BSI-verse here, and I think I may have actually squeaked in glee when I saw this pop up on my flist. This is exactly the way I imagined it would be when they finally got Flack (or something approximating Flack) back. Danny would feel guilty and start lashing out at everyone, while Mac would insist on all kinds of precautions and not tell anyone everything that's going on. Also, this line:
Danny doesn’t know how to mourn because Danny can’t let go of a damn thing.
I can't tell you how perfect that is, both for this Danny and for canon!Danny, too.
...This 'verse is way too much fun.
In the necromancy-verse piece, the idea of Lindsay being a secret necromancer also fits perfectly with her secrecy and reluctance to let anyone in on what's going on in her head. And of course Hawkes and Hammerback would figure it out, and Hawkes would want to help. Hammerback is right -- not everyone wants to be saved -- but that's one of those things that I think Hawkes just can't ever accept.
Danny doesn’t know how to mourn because Danny can’t let go of a damn thing.
I can't tell you how perfect that is, both for this Danny and for canon!Danny, too.
That's the sentence that made me go ahead and clean the piece up for posting, because it seemed so true of Danny across the board.
I'm very glad you liked that piece and it fit in with how you imagine the verse. It is a lot of fun, but unsettling fun.

I *still* have not watched the episode in which Lindsay leaves, though it's sitting on my harddrive. I have seen a screencap of the note she left for Danny and... Okay. Just. And they're supposed to be "close"? What, they're so close they don't need words to communicate? (*gag*) But seriously, and Danny/Lindsay aside, that's a perfect example of how far she'll go to hide. It strikes me as purely a self-protective impulse with her, but *still*.

Hawkes is practical in his idealism and totally down with Sid's creepiness.
