necromancy

Huh. I think this is the first real AU I've written. I honestly don't know if I will continue to play with this 'verse or not. It's a distinct possibility.

title: Necromancy
with: Hawkes, Hammerback
rated: PG
disclaim: I only own the DVDs; everything belongs to Zuiker, CBS, et al.
note: the background rules of the story make it AU

necromancer - one who interrogates the dead )

char: sid hammerback, genre: gen, fic, char: sheldon hawkes, genre: au, fandom: csi:ny, tone: fellowsoldiers, grouping: necromancy

I love this. There can never be too many ME fics, and this is one of the best.

Thank you. :) I'm still fairly shocked that I wrote it, but it felt like a good stretch.

really well written. i love anything with Sid in it, and gen!hawkes is fantastic too.

Anyway, this is really good, and I'd love to read more.

I have become a total Sid convert. I mean, I was only lukewarm to him last year, but now?

Thanks. A follow-up piece is among the stories I'm working on.

He makes me happy. I don't know why. I just love the characters we never get to know enough about, and you do them justice.

I love this; the idea of medical examiners as necromancers is just spot-on perfect, and perfectly creepy. And, of course, procedural-as-ghost-story continues to fascinate me.

The idea also ties in well with Hawkes' sense of personal responsibility, and with his canon reasons for leaving the medical field. It just *works* for him -- if he's able to see the dead, well, no wonder.

Thanks. :) LIke I said in a lot of comments, I'm shocked and pleased at how much fun this was to write.

with his canon reasons for leaving the medical field

Oh, I hadn't consciously run down that line of reasoning, but yes. That actually helps a lot with the next piece I have planned. But yeah, Hawkes and Hammerback seeing the dead felt too right to pass up. I've thoroughly convinced myself that Hawkes is a wealth of esoteric knowledge, and Sid just seems to make a great cohort for this sort of a scenario.
