This was amazing, just the multiple levels of Danny all summed up in a very short fic. There's his charm, and I can totally see him being the very opposite of a "lab geek" while he's explaining blood spatter to a jury. And then there's his past, the way he shifts thing, the way he's nervous and fretful about its discovery, not wanting to be that person, yet no matter how much he shifts things, the past *happened*, and he can't really change that. That's what's painful. And that last line. Just ow and aww and it's both tender-sweet and painful at the same time. Excellent fic.
