Snap, Snap, Snap: The Conservatory, The Cemetery, The Viaduct

I've been out and about with the camera a bit lately, and fairly pleased with some of the results. Both last weekend and this weekend, I took mini-trips with friends to take pictures.

opened the viaduct to pedestrians for the first and only time

Kinda. There have been opportunities to be there on foot before. David and I skipped out on the Sunday morning portion of one square dance weekend to hit Pike Place Market. Parked, glanced up--and there are people out on the Viaduct roadway. A handful...dozens...hundreds upon hundreds of people, running south away from downtown as fast as they could manage! It gave the very unsettling feeling that Godzilla or something equally unpleasant had been spotted in Belltown.

This was a Sunday in March, and it was a St. Patrick's Day run. We got startled in exactly the same way once or twice more in subsequent years.

Great pics! Thank you for sharing. I never knew we had a civil war cemetery in Seattle. I figured we were too far away.

I will miss the viaduct too. I never saw it as a barrier to the waterfront. Of course, I always thought going under the viaduct was a bit of an adventure.
