I enjoyed the farewells, even if I thought in overall larger context, they were somewhat silly and pointless. The point of the doctor is that he doesn't die, he regenerates. A different personality but memories and pieces intact. It wasn't such a big deal for anyone else, including actors who'd been in the part longer. I digress.

I briefly had hopes the ep was going somewhere, so quickly dashed. The giant plot holes really made me pretty much loathe it, as glad as I was for the little blessings we got. I will miss Tennant, but I think he was getting tired and I think I'm ready to see what will come. More so now than before the End of Time.

Yes, right, exactly. The farewells suggest he'll never meet any of these characters again--but he'll always remember them, and so will viewers. It was self indulgent.

I should note for the record that I liked his farewell to Captain Jack. The time-loop of their friendship, if Jack really is the Face of Boe, makes it poignant and sweet because they'll meet again. So I liked his farewell to Jack (which wasn't really one) and his farewell to Rose (which, again, wasn't really one). I hated the others because they really were jerky, self-indulgent farewells.

Ah well, as the Ghost Hunters says, on to the next...
