Reorganization, fear, and writing, in no particular order, for no particular reason

Room switcheroo: Spent last evening reorganizing books in the newly placed bookcases. The new main floor--whatever it will be called--is coming together. It will be very different than it was before. (And yeah, it hasn't been painted yet, so it will come apart again before it comes together, but I can't stand living with the chaos anymore.) I ( Read more... )

Why don't people ever talk about that, about the kind of fear that man instilled in the populace?

Because he was the single greatest President ever! He singlehandedly destroyed Communism, tore down the Berlin Wall with his bare hands and ate, and shit patriotism and rainbows. Every federal building should be named after him and he should replace all the presidents on Mount Rushmore...

Or some such horseshit...

Sadly, I'd rather have 8 more years of Reagan than 8 more years of W. Even though Reagan brought us the horrors of deregulation that has let a few companies dominate our communication/entertainment networks.

Clearchanel is Reagan's fault!

Oh, I'd rather have eight more years of Nixon than W. (at least he knew when to leave)

Reagan wasn't the complete international embarrassment that W. has been. As bad as his government was, it at least had a vague respect for the Constitution....

::sigh:: I can't believe I'm going to agree with you on this, but at least Nixon was not stupid, especially about foreign policy issues.

(I'm saying kind words about Nixon. ::shiver:: Hell has now officially frozen over.)

(Why don't people ever talk about that, about the kind of fear that man instilled in the populace? It was governance by fear, and W has taken a page from that play book and elevated it to an art form.)

So true! It was what I said in '04 - the man relies on fear to garner support. I was tired of it then; I'm even more tired of it now. I think it's one of the reasons Obama looks so good.
