I brought a new vacuum yesterday. It's blue and it looks like a starship. Or a space probe. Or some other science fictiony thingie. The carpet is no longer crunchy. Spanky has no more love for this machine than he did for my old Eureka World-Vac. Merlin, apparently, remains unmoved by technology ( Read more... )

Bissell Lift-Off Revolution for homes with pets. I don't think it has quite the power of my WorldVac, frankly, but it did the job. I had been looking at another Eureka, but it was beyond my price range. Once this one gives up the ghost, I may go back.

I'm sort of a vacuum cleaner enthusiast, although I've been mighty tempted by a Bissel carpet cleaner (the ones they use at Pizza Hut) lately for the quiet factor.

Ours is a thing called a Henry, which deals with dog/cat/my hair adequately. Still need to de-fur the carpet on hands and knees, though.

I have to say, as ridiculous as the price is - I love my Dyson.

No filters, no dust leakage, and suction that just doesn't quit. And if it gets slow, you take out the little sponge filter rinse it until it's white again, then dry it for a day and it's like brand new. It's all plastic, comes apart easy, and can be used on a hardwood floor.

You can suck up things like sample tubes of perfume, and they just go through, and you can pull them out easy.

And, I don't see the need for another vacuum unless it gets dropped from a height.
