Missed the showing of Doctor Who: The Christmas Invasion on SciFi last night, so when I got home from the office (9:45 PM), I popped in my DVD of the Children In Need special (care of
drewshi, bless him), and then my DVD of Christmas Invasion (care of
twilight2000, bless her) and indulged. So much fun. We were all correct to be excited about Tennant as the Doctor. It

Awww. :-) Yeah, for the most part he does good work this season, though there comes a point at which the manicness of his performance begins to wear on me. I'm hoping he tones it down a tiny bit in third season. In the meanwhile, I'm going to enjoy what there is to enjoy, and there's quite a bit.
Would love to catch up with you soon, but it won't be until after the work madness ends which should be in about a week. I hope.

We caught both Christmas Invasion and New Earth last night -- much fun & our first exposure to the Tennant Doctor. I thought he was just delightful; Dave too, though he said it'll take a bit to get used to his voice, which doesn't appeal to him as much.
The ending of Christmas Invasion (re Harriet Jones) really caught me off guard, but I liked it much, especially the Doctor's reaction.
Also, yay, Face of Boe!
BTW, if you do make it down this way sometime and have enough time for multiple friend visits, give us a holler!

He is in these first few eps. He gets pretty manic as the season goes on. I'll be curious to hear what you think once we're a few episodes in.
The ending of Christmas Invasion (re Harriet Jones) really caught me off guard...
You're not alone. Caught everyone off guard when the thing first aired, but the truth is that she's got a good point. I can see both her and the Doctor's points. It's a tough call. Her action is a direct result of the Doctor's remark about Earth drawing attention to itself; they both bear some responsibility. But now he's a man who offers no second chances, hence his action in response. It's ultimately a pretty reckless move he makes. It's more about personal retribution than it is about what may be good for humanity, and that still bothers me.
...yay, Face of Boe!
And the Face of Boe may return in Season Three, from what I hear.
Should I find my way to Portland, I will find a way to make time for all the Oregon folk, I promise. :-)
