Ugh. Rain and darkness. I just realized it's 9:30. My brain hadn't quite caught on yet because it feels like it should be earlier.

My main interaction with David Hartwell was to wish him a happy birthday at Readercon (after all, neither you nor I were ever likely to forget his :-).

It's clear to me from many of the tributes that he was not always an easy person to know, but that he had a kind streak to go with the stubborn streak and that he was, and will remain, deeply influential in the field of SF/F.
