IIRC the first No Award was to "Best Related Work". The Ustream coverage shows it I believe; it's ~2:46 in Part 2 of the coverage.

IMHO, the No Award was well-deserved (yes I read them before voting). The applause was cathartic I thought, and I noticed that the applause for subsequent No Awards was more subdued. I think it went about as well as could be hoped and I took no pleasure in casting my vote for No Award in some categories (not when I had read plenty of other stuff that were pushed off the ballot that were better).

I am in agreement with your other points.
