It's Superman! by Tom De Haven: A licensed Superman novel published, like, 20ish years ago that takes a very realistic, pretty literary and at the same time almost pulpy approach to Superman's original story, starting at when he's done with high school and as he heads off into the real world. De Haven's voice cracks both wise and perceptive, and is ( Read more... )

*hugs* offered.

I'm going to miss Worldcon this year because of personal logistical conflicts, which annoys me because I wanted to see people. (Not Spokane, I've seen Spokane already.) OTOH not going is a bit of a relief in the "so much to do, this is now one thing I can stop worrying about" way.

I hope yours is great.

I'm sorry you won't be coming. :-( But I understand Life interrupting WorldCon, believe me.

3, 4, and 5 are likely related, which you've I'm sure already figured out. *sends strength and serenity vibes*

We should discuss WorldCon - Barb and I are planning on driving out early Thursday morning, and back Sunday night, if you want to road trip with us... (I can promise that we are entertaining, if slightly insane, car-mates)

Thanks for the offer of the lift. As it happens, Betsy M is flying out from New York and we're leaving early Wednesday morning to road trip it together. I've got a dinner planned with a non-skiffy friend for Wednesday night, so I kinda hafta be there early. I may get to Spokane, check into my room and just hermit away for the afternoon until I have to come out.

Delighted to hear that Barb is coming! Yes, we should talk about the convention--maybe this weekend?

Hey, I'm looking forward to seeing you at some point.

(ETA: During Worldcon, that is. And yes, I agree with Laura Anne. The last three things are intertwined. You've been through a lot lately. Hugs.)

Well, I know I'm going to the Fairwood Press party and to the Hugos. Alas, I'm not as svelte as I was in Reno, but we'll see what I come up with to wear (I have something I couldn't wear when skinnier, we'll see if I'm too heavy for that outfit). ETA: And the condition of my ankle will determine footwear and outfit. Right now I'm making good progress. We shall see.

I'm glad you're saying 'no', in order to say 'yes' to yourself.
