How is it possible that I've never heard of the Morris-Jumel Mansion before? It blows my mind just to know that a house like that exists in Manhattan -- I don't even care whether it's haunted or not!

There was a basic, but interesting, article on ghost photography at The Atlantic's website Thursday.

I looked it up so you don't have to: http://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2013/10/when-cameras-took-pictures-of-ghosts/281010/. The editors seem to have tried to avoid running all "the usual suspects," which I appreciated. (Although they missed an aspect of the early "keepsake photo" movement that I've felt for years was creepy enough for a Halloween story all by itself, probably to avoid the article becoming too diffuse. Remind me sometime and I'll tell you about it.)
