Health, Oscars, politics, and other random thoughts

Health
I am sick. It appears to be the head cold that everyone else in the office has had. I suppose the silver lining is that I have it now rather than coming down with it during the week, when I'm supposed to be traveling. The sooner it's out of my system, the better. Wow, my head hurts.

Lots of that need for venting going around. I hope you feel better in the morning.

As an aside, I completely agree on Paperman and Kristin Stewart.

Where was Scarlett Johansson?

In NYC doing a Broadway play, I believe.

(Chris Hemsworth wasn't there either, due to being in Australia.)

I wish I could risk treating you to coffee, but I can't risk a cold right now...

Seth McFarlane is the writer/producer/director of a vile animated series which I've never been able to watch longer than five minutes--and you know how I feel about animation. He's just written and directed a successful but crass comedy. His only redeeming feature was shown on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me about a year ago: he's such a ST:TOS fan he can not only drop into a perfect Kirk, but he can do it with dialog from the actual series. He's John Krisfalusi without the talent or taste, and your inability to recognize him says oceans of good things about you.

I get that you don't like his work, but that doesn't mean you have to badmouth it (or him). Enough people like Family Guy that they got his show back on the air after FOX canceled it.

"his only redeeming feature..."
"without the talent or taste"

Eleven seasons. He must be doing something right, even if it's not to your taste.

It's actually quite possible to say that you don't like something without trashing it.

I know who Seth McFarlane is, I don't like him, and I have no @&#* clue as to why he was chosen because I think his primary feature is being a snot.

Let's just hope this keeps him from remaking "Cosmos" (no, I'm not kidding)

FWIW, I spent most of last week in a Ford Focus and discovered, unexpectedly, that I loved it!

Hope you feel better!

The car I was driving when I got rear-ended was Focus; so was the one previous to that. I've been a fan of the Focus for a while now. :-)
