Hard drive archeology: Learning to shoot a gun

I was cleaning out my hard drive this morning and discovered something I wrote in 2001 after going to the range with a friend who had just completed police training. He wanted to practice, and I wanted the experience so off we went together. The references to The X Files clearly date the piece, but not by much. This is what I wrote ( Read more... )

...and the FN FAL's detachable box magazine can be loaded from such clips, even today.

A treasured possession of mine is the jackknife I won for being top shot in my Regiment-- one year, some years ago. I haven't been shooting since leaving the army.

Did you enjoy it enough to go back?

Have you ever shot sporting clays? Moving target, shotgun at the shoulder, searching for Zen while practicing to get dinner some maybe day. Golf without ever having to search for that pesky ball. 😊
