Sounds like an interesting journey.
As for the deer farm...they eat more venison in restaurants and you can buy it in stores in Europe. In the states only "farmed" venison is approved for sale in restaurants. I believe it's the same in Europe. Also deer skin for jackets, shoes, and antler.

Have fun in amsterdam!

Interestingly , I never saw venison on any menu I looked at in Lithuania, nor did I see much in the way of leather products. If you're right, then it's all for export, and my guess would be that it's all for export to Russia, which seems to provide most of the tourist trade and custom in the area, ironic given the two countries' mutual history. The Russians are hated and disdained from what I can tell, and you can get beaten up (as a couple of people attested to) if you're heard speaking Russian.

Probably right about venison being for export/. When i was in Berlin I saw entire deer hanging in meat departments of higher end markets and venison was on many menus so some of it might be going to Germany as well. Hides might be going to Italy--I saw lots of leather including doeskin there.

Im sorta of stunned by a theme park to soviet leaders but then again, we have some pretty odd theme parks here too.
happy traveling.
