I nominated "Forbidden Planet," which he acquired. He asked me to speak about the movie a little bit, so I introduced it and, after the film, got up to talk about it and its context in culture and in science fiction.

Actually, I said, "It's The Tempest," but then I said it's where Star Trek came from. But this was a group of students many of whom had never seen the show, so there was a point beyond which it was just lost on them. Which just sort of boggles me. But it's not just a cultural thing; it's a generational thing as well. Don't forget: this isn't a generation that is surprised when you tell them than Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings. This is a generation that asks, "Who was Paul McCartney?"

"By the time I arrived in Kaunas, I'd gotten an interesting overview of this southern central part of Lithuania."

When I read this my mind saw it as: By the time I arrived in Kansas, I'd gotten an interesting overview of this southern central part of Lithuania. How's it going Dorothy? LOL the brain is a strange thing sometimes.

It's been fun reading about all your adventures and am very glad you're having a great time.
