The exhaustion is beginning to tell. I think both Elizabeth and I are beginning to feel the lack of good sleep, the lack of familiarity, and the press of time. In my experience traveling internationally, there's a moment when travel exhaustion and culture shock (which had until then been unnoticable) really kick in. Some down time always helped.

The gardens, grounds, fountains are lovely but what I loved was wandering through the parks and alleys of versailles. Taking a picnic. Enjoying le Petite Palace and the farmhouse where Marie played at dairymaid.
Don't bother with it this trip though. Next time.
