English always has been great area of focus in Education in Japan for years, with rapid globalization via internet.
However, in actual observation of the kids I work with, I cannot help but question the current Education system...

Couple days ago a PTA meeting was held at school, and the head of PTA as asked to weave English as Second Language ( Read more... )

Cram school in first grade? Oh my god! I'm so glad my parents didn't make me go that early!

But maybe English in first grade would have helped; I'm so terrible at English, haha.

It's true that sometimes I wonder about that myself...
But at young age like this, I'd think blind exposure to the language would work better than the structured system, which I think would bring more stress than knowledge.

I believe in playful learning.

Ah, and nice to meet you.
I'm Sora Takenouchi- and you're "the" Rieko san?

I am surprised to learn you've a Digimon as well. :)

Maybe that would work! English lessons were super stressful.

Yup, that's me! Nice to meet you too, Takenouchi-san! I actually have two~ But I keep them out of the media.

Two? I knew we're allowed more than one partners via case of Wallace san, however, the concept still takes me by surprise.
That, and the famous celebirty is one of us. :)

I wonder how it'll be different if we could get another partner?

I thought it was expected of us kids?

I started at cram schools when I was four.
It wasn't until the move to Odaiba I was taking it fairly easy, but at that point study habits were drilled hard in me.

Hmm.
However, I do see your point of view, to a degree.
It was nice to relax with Miyako san's family after all.

Thanks for the support.
Too bad there isn't much a newly hired teacher could do in teacher meetings.
It's all senorities.

Our school system is so screwed up, isn't it? Kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore.

Wish I could help, but I'm terrible with English and I have studies of my own.

Sure is. I wonder if the things are different overseas.

It's definitely different in Australia, at least: I was shocked when I found out about cram school. (My host family's pretty liberal, though; my sister didn't go. She liked drama club better.) And my American and Canadian friends were pretty surprised to hear about cram schools too.

What are these parents THINKING! Dude, what about games? Sports? RELAXING and being a KID!?

Does Ken and Hikari-chan forcing me to study under threat of unspeakable threats count as cram school? Because if not, I only went to one and I kinda got kicked out because, heh, I kept forgetting to go and playing soccer in the park...

It's not. -_-

Crams schools can be a nice idea, for extra curriculars in my opinion. Instruments, are better learned in earlier age isn't it?

It also helps brain development.

For anything other than that, I agree with you Sora san.

Hmm. Kind of cram school I like, is like you attending a class to make better ramen.
It's not all that bad.
