1. While reading this, I was rather bummed when I found out that there wasn't a documentary called Scary Mad People Are Scary, And They All Have Axes, Too2. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is about as bad as expected. I don't have anything to say that hasn't been said before: Blomkvist is boring, the story is padded out with useless information,

Man, you are reading two terrible books at once. I like, have to read something good every 200 pages of the Twilight saga (oh God, the whining, the women-are-nothing-without-men undertones, the whining, the douchey male characters, THE WHINING) so I salute you.

I dunno, Hostage to the Devil almost qualifies as 'so bad it's good', although The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo stays firmly in the 'so bad it's BORING' category. Hostage to the Devil is total bullshit, but it does have quite a few interesting bits that would make good fodder for an urban fantasy/horror story, so reading doesn't feel like a complete waste of time.

I'm hoping that Dragon Tattoo will pick up when it gets further into the murder plot. In the meantime, I'm just skimming over the bits that focus on Blomkvist and corporate politics, because life's too short.

The Twilight saga just seems... rage-inducing. Although I can see Edward's 'I AM A MONSTER WOE IS ME' whining appealing to the guilty pleasure centers of my brain, because I have a secret soft spot for vampire manpain.
