So, y'all know that new 'Verse I've been polling you about the last few days? Well, there was this prompt over on
comment_fic that fits it to a T, and I wrote a ficlet for it. I now consider this canon for my new 'Verse.
Prompt: NCIS, AU, Tim/Tony or team gen: It might not be as glamorous or well-known as the Federal Bureau of Vampire Relations, but they're perfectly happy investigating werewolf crimes. Mostly. (Extra points and love for bonus ghost!Kate.)
Kate had never really given much thought as to what would happen to her after she'd died. She'd certainly never expected to become a ghost that had decided its home was the NCIS building. The transition from the rooftop where she'd been shot to her desk was almost instantaneous, and it had taken her a second to realize what had happened.
All of her training, both Secret Service and otherwise, hadn't really prepared her for this. She wondered if it said something about her that her oddly uninjured spirit (which, contrary to all evidence presented in the movies, was fully capable of touching things and was only a little transparent, with barely even a slight shimmer around the edges, thank you very much) had decided that the Major Werecreature Crimes Unit was a perfect place to begin her newly (un)dead life.
She'd certainly given the team a good shock when they'd returned. The sight of her had even ruffled Gibbs, which told Kate all she needed to know, since the old 'wolf rarely looked that shaken.
'So, I'm dead, right?' she'd asked resignedly, leaning back in her chair.
Tim, who had gone pale at the sight of her, merely nodded, looking like he couldn't trust himself to speak.
'Damn. Did you at least get the bastard who did it?'
Gibbs shook his head.
'Not yet, but we will,' he told her.
Kate grinned.
'Good. Let's get started.'
