How can you know if something turned out okay because of what you did or in spite of what you did?

You can't.

You look at the result. Might not be what you wanted exactly. But you see what you get for your efforts there.

The result turned out pretty good. Really good, in fact. I just don't know if it's because of what I did or in spite of it.

In that case, it's just one of those things that'll probably forever be a mystery.

I was afraid of that. Not a bit fan of unsolved mysteries.

There are ways to predict an outcome using insight planning and strategy and yet this is also an unreliable tool in many cases. Ah-- I would say, and this is only my humble opinion, that you would never know until you try it.

I know the outcome, what I'm wondering is if the outcome occurred because of my choices or in spite them.

Your choices would have influenced the result -- how much that depends of the case: its other parties, the circumstances, and this is personal. There is cause and consequence for everything.

So basically, there's no way to really know?

A variety of factors would have to be taken into account, not all of which are usually available knowledge.

There is if you have knowledge of all factors and the mental ability to calculate all possible outcomes.

Does it matter? Because it's done, right?

All you can do is your best and then let it go.

It doesn't matter towards the outcome, but it might bring some peace of mind.

So I know that whatever you did, you did with a right heart and if it turned out well, then you did good.
