Hi there! You and I are in the guitarist community together and I read your journal sometimes. I'm replying because I wear a night guard! It took a couple of years for my dentist to persuade me to get one, but now I can't sleep without it. Yes, they're worth it! I am a serious grinder, and I even wore my night guard to class a few times in college if I knew I would be taking an exam or otherwise stressing out and grinding. They usually last for a couple of years and are fit exactly to your teeth, so they're very comfortable. I've even forgotten to take it out a couple of times. I've never had a problem choking on it in my sleep or when I'm congested. The very first night with my night guard was rough. It kept me up because I wasn't used to it, but I have difficulty sleeping without it now. My boyfriend thinks it's gross, but it doesn't affect my speech when I have it in and it's really not that conspicuous, so he usually doesn't even notice it unless he sees me put it in or take it out. Hope that was some help!
Hey, thanks! I was hoping someone whould answer this question! I am definitely going to get a night guard now. I think I really will need it around exams - especially since I have decided I want to go for my Master's Degree after I get my BA with Honours. The good news is that my dentist sent an estimate to my insurance company and they will pay 100% of the cost. =D
